Location
Centrally located, this hotel sits at the heart of the region’s trail network providing easy access to trails in all four valleys. The village has 5 bike shops offering lessons and a range of full suspension and ebikes. Being close to Davos Dorf train station, riders have easy access to mountain bike routes in Klosters and north of the valley. The Gotschna freeride trail finishes at Klosters Platz train station, a 20 minute train ride back up to Davos Dorf village centre. The hotel is a 10 minute ride to both lifts and the start of the award winning Alps Epic Trail.

Wellness
The hotel is a short walk to the Eau La La water complex which has outdoor and indoor pools and a wellness area. Lake Davos has a lido and is 10 minutes away by bike. The hotel also has its own sauna.

Families
Hotel Edelweiss is an ideal base for families with young children. Family rooms are available and the library has board games and children’s books. The spacious garden is great for hide and seek. The hotel can also arrange a baby sitting service. The Eau La La water complex has a children’s area and giant slide. Lake Davos and Adventure Park Davos are ten minutes by bike from the hotel.

Ride

Davos Klosters is renowned as the home of singletrack with 700km of serene routes and a huge trail network. There’s plenty of backcountry riding here, including a section of the annual Alps Epic mountain bike challenge. The local trail team take great care to blend trail features into the natural environment, earning the resort IMBA trail status. Trails stretch from the village of Filisur to the south up to Jenaz to the north. A well established destination, mountain bikers have been allowed on all hiking trails since the 1980’s. Unlike most resorts that use fireroads, climbs here are singletrack which also makes Davos Klosers a paradise for eBikers.

The region boasts an exceptionally high proportion of singletrack, sections of which feature in the internationally acclaimed Alps Epic. It was also one of the venues for Danny MacAskill’s ‘Home of Trails’ video. Part of the secret of quality trails is the Davos Trail Crew, a team of full time riders who keep the trails to IMBA Epic Trail standard. The resort also offers an impressive selection of bike shops, rental options, guided rides, coaching days and tours.

At 1560m, Davos is the highest ‘city’ in Switzerland and links to four parallel valleys and the town’s nearby Bikepark. A 6km freeride trail with features including North Shore, wall rides, drops, jumps and tables can be found in the village of Klosters below at 1200m. In winter the resort offers fat biking with 4 descents from the Pischa ski lift. There are 47 mountain restaurants on the trail, the majority of which offer meals for vegans and vegetarians. There are also plenty of alternative family friendly outdoor activities.

Family & Easy Experience

Davos is an ideal destination for beginners and families with kids. There are 7 easy routes under 30km with gentle gradients, manageable for novices and young riders. The Davos Valley Tour, route 337 is particularly pleasant and runs along the valley with sections of forested singletrack. If you feel the need for some refreshment, stop off along the way at one of many mountain restaurants. Throughout the summer the resort offers bike camps for teens. 5 different shops rent children’s bikes and both the Bike Academy and Bunda Sport rent children’s trailers.

Bike & Wellness Experience

Davos is the ideal destination for a bike and wellness retreat. Davos offers 15 routes under 30km. Great care has been taken to integrate the trails into the natural environment. After a long day in the saddle, look forward to a post ride dip at the lido in Lake Davos. Grab a beer, enjoy some beach volley or hire a SUP from the lake’s Surfcentre. For something altogether more natural, roll down the road for a swim in the secluded lake Schwarzsee.

In the centre of Davos, the Eau La La water complex has outdoor and indoor pools and a wellness area. An hour by train from Davos you can reach the thermal baths of Alvaneu. The baths have panoramic views over the surrounding mountains and boast Europe’s second largest sulphur springs. The baths include a steam bath, Finnish and bio sauna, bubble loungers and bubble pots, water massage jets, a relaxation room and garden. Sports massage and physiotherapy is also available.

Breeze the climbs or extend your ride, ebikes are a powerful tool opening up new riding options and are by far the best means to explore big mountains.

Unlike most resorts, Davos offers an incredible choice of singletrack routes, 9 of which are ebike friendly and under 30km. The majority of ebike routes are suitable for beginners and intermediate riders. There are many different valleys to explore each with restaurants to stop at along the way. Challenging high mountain routes are also an option for more experienced riders for example the Pischa route 645 is both epic and technically demanding.

Trail & Tour Experience

With a trail network of 1300km, it’s not surprising that Davos is considered to be the ‘home of trails’. Davos area is surrounded by stunning singletrack routes and is renouned for the care that’s been taken by their full time trail team to integrate mountain biking into the natural environment. Plenty of routes here exceed 30km and the resort proposes a number of multi-day itineraries. If you are super fit and adventurous, the epic four day, four stage Panorama Ride (route 330) through the Dolomites of Graubünden covers an impressive 140km of singletrack and 5920m of ascent. Alternatively, sample a section of the infamous Alps Epic route, classified as an IMBA Epic Trail – choose from the 27km route from Rinerhorn or the 38km route from Jakobshorn. Or take your pick of routes under 30km and simply explore the valleys, stopping at mountain huts and restaurants along the way.

Enduro & Park Experience

For Enduro and Park riders, Davos offers an impressive variety of riding options with arguably the highest concentration of managed singletrack in Switzerland. A dedicated trail crew have been working the trails for 20 years. The resort’s route map gives you an idea just how big a job that’s been. Out of 1300km of trails, there are 15 routes under 30km (4 of which are lift connected) with terrain to suit all levels of skill and technical ability. Down in the village of Klosters there’s a cable car up to the Gotschna Freeride Piste. Modelled after Whistler’s A-Line, Gotschna is 6km of non-stop features (200 in total) including North Shore, wall rides, drops, jumps and tables. Not to be missed. For dirt jump fans, head down to Bike Park Davos. If you’re looking for a real challenge, try the Cablecar tour (Bahnentour), a 90km route with 5 cable cars and 10’414m of descent – doable in a day for fit riders.

Davos is one of the most active resorts in Switzerland offering a range of outdoor leisure pursuits from water sports and beach volley to hiking, climbing and via ferrata. The resort organises a weekly programme of 70 different activities, free of charge as part of the Davos Guest card programme. Scheduled SUP sessions, introductions to wakeboarding, windsurfing, sailing, indoor climbing or paragliding are among the many activities on offer. Davos is also home to the HC Davos ice hockey team and Vaillant Arena and hosts the annual Spengler Cup. Families in Davos are spoilt for choice. Bike Park Davos Färich hires bikes and skateboards and has a pumptrack, dirt jumps, two playgrounds and a children’s tree top rope course. The resort has 17 pram friendly hiking trails under two hours. Next to the village of Davos there’s a summer toboggan run and the nearby Lake Davos has a lido hosting a range of water sports for all ages. Davos has an extensive activitiy program including organised family hikes, bike fun for teens, water sports introductary lessons, pony riding, lama trekking and visits to farmers on the Alp.

In Klosters the Arena Strandbad lido offers a children’s pool, climbing wall, beach volley and play area.
