Home to pro enduro riders ‘the Gehrig Twins’, Flims Laax Falera offers a range of mountain biking options for families, e-mountain bikers and beginners. The forested area along the river Rhine with its network of wide, undulating trails are ideal for families with kids on tow, novice riders and first time e-bikers. More advanced riders can enjoy lift access to rugged, high alpine routes offering over 1500m of descent. Two flow trails for intermediate to advanced riders are also accessible by lift, one of which won the award and label of “Flow Country Trail” by the International Mountain Bike Association. The resort offers a wide choice of classy mountain restaurants on the trails as well as in its villages. There’s a pump track and two skills areas. Full suspension bikes, ebikes and kids trailers are available to hire in different locations throughout the resort.

The trails in the fairytale Flimserwald are ideal for beginner and family riders with kids on tow. Enjoy pleasant gradients and clear paths winding through pine forests. Be enchanted by bright turquoise-blue bathing lakes and enjoy the views over the Swiss Grand Canyon. Children love the Urban surfwave pump track in Laax. The Freestyle academy runs week long bike camps for children aged between 8 and 17 years old. Laax Rental offers a range of kids bikes and trailers. For those looking to progress, Laax School offers lessons on a daily basis for beginners and e-bikers. There are also skills areas at the base of both lift stations in Flims and Laax.

Laax Flims is an ideal destination for your next bike and wellness retreat. Lake Cauma is a spring-fed, iridescent, blue-water lake surrounded by gentle gravel trails winding through pine forests. Daily yoga sessions are organised here by Laax School as well as morning and evening yoga and tai chi classes. Take in the fresh mountain air and ride to a viewing platform over the spectacular Rhine Gorge or “Swiss Grand Canyon”. For a challenge, ride up to Alp Mora and discover the ‘glacial mills’, crystal waters perfect for post climb refreshment – sweat the climb or hire an ebike. Advanced riders on a full suspension bike with good fitness should ride up to Vorab glacier with its awe inspiring views over the UNESCO Sardona tectonic arena (also accessible on foot). For a taste of luxury, the iconic 7132 Therme baths is less than an hour’s drive away, also accessible by bus.

Breeze the climbs or extend your ride, ebikes are a powerful tool opening up new riding options and are by far the best means to explore big mountains. Flims Laax offers an extensive network of winding gravel paths and fire roads through cool alpine forests. Beginners start with the gentle 3-lakes tour with pleasant gradients, clear paths and no surprises then progress gradually to longer trails. For riders in search of a challenge, the Rheinschlucht tour along the Rhine Gorge also known as the “Swiss Grand Canyon” covers 86km and 2800m of climb. Or for more technical terrain, the climb to Crap Sogn Gion cannot be missed. For those looking to progress, Laax School offers lessons on a daily basis for beginners and e-bikers.

For riders looking to explore this spectacular area, with 26 routes under 30km there’s pleanty to choose from. For cross country bikers there’s an extensive network of winding gravel paths and fire roads. Shorter routes are centered around the enchanted turquoise-blue bathing lakes. For longer routes, try the trails along the Rhine Gorge or “Swiss Grand Canyon”. For climbs, the gravel road up to Alp Mora at 2100m is well worth the view. Riders in search of trails off the beaten track can hire a private guide at Laax School.

Enduro & Park Experience
Flims Laax resort offers 7 lift assisted enduro route options under 30km with pleanty to challenge the intermediate to advanced rider including 2 superb flow trails – TREKs Runcatrail and Neverend trail, not to be missed. Singletrack, technical descents and a magnificent view of the mountains, the ski lifts and the resort’s shuttle buses combined with some muscle power will reveal the impressive UNESCO World Heritage Sardona tectonic arena. Gawp at the tremendous power of continental plate displacement and enjoy views of the Vorab glacier. These high mountain trails need a fit rider and a full suspension bike with 140-170mm of travel. For tricks, enjoy jumps and berms a pleanty with 13km of flow trails. The TREK Runkatrail, winner of IMBA’s Flow Country Trail award is awesome for intermediate riders with optional features. The black Neverend trail is one step up and guaranteed to bring out the freerider in you – fast, flowy and not for the faint hearted.

Laax Rental also known as the Trek Test Centre at the base of the Flims lift station offers the latest Trek bikes for you to try out. E-bikes can be rented from here as well as from various locations throughout the resort.
Laax School offers daily lessons for all abilities and styles from freeride techniques to ebiking. They also offer guided tours of the area, kids camps and women’s bike camps. There are also skills areas at the base of both lift stations in Flims and Laax.
In addition to mountain biking, Flims offers a wide range of outdoor activities, from daily yoga sessions, bathing in the crystal waters of Lake Cauma, via ferrata, white water rafting or paragliding. Flims is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona, renowned as one of the most spectacular hiking destinations in Switzerland. Views of the Ruinaulta valley (Rhine gorge or Rheinschlucht) also known as the Grand Canyon of Switzerland can be enjoyed from numerous architectonic viewing platforms upon its cliff tops. For families with small children, plenty of activities are on offer from sessions at the Freestyle Academy and nearby pump track, to bike camps and kids archery. Flims Laax Falera is a family friendly resort and Swiss certified family destination. For families with young children, there are 10 play areas across the resort including one next to Lake Cauma. The tourist office organises Ami Sabi Summer Wonderland forest outings where groups of children are taught about the environment though arts, crafts and story telling – simply register with the tourist office. The Urban Surfwave for bikes, BMX, skate boarders and even go carts can be found at the Rocksresort in Laax. All sorts of equipment can be hired on-site including slacklines, stilts and pedalos. There’s also a playground with a sandbox, trampoline and table tennis. In the adjacent meadow children can play football, badminton or Boccia. For something more unusual, young adults can try an introduction to Air Track, Bagjumps, trampoline, Snowfex and Big Air at the indoor Freestyle Academy in Laax. There’s also archery at the Hubertus Archery Park, open to young and old marksmen.
